Marcus was born and brought up in South Wales. He joined the Army aged 15, as a boy soldier and he was awarded Best All Round Junior Soldier in his passing out year. He was a keen rugby player and gained a Rugby Army Cup Medal in 1977. He served in Germany and also served in for 14 months in Northern Ireland.
Marcus has lived in Coventry since 1977.
Marcus runs an electrical business (Coventry Vacuum Services Ltd).
Marcus has gained numerous electrical/electronic qualifications and has branched out into computer networking. He is a Cisco Certified Network Associate and has completed his teaching certificates in Further Education. He has taught part time at City College for the last 4 years. He teaches various IT related subjects and also on the Cisco Academy Programme. Marcus believes anything is possible through education and hard work.
"All my qualifications have come from evening study/night school.
I truly believe that with the correct qualifications and hard work people can achieve anything".
Marcus lives in Westwood ward with his wife Maureen and daughter Christina.
Marcus is Shadow Cabinet Member for Housing, Sustainability and Local Infrastructure.
Before the new administration Marcus was Play Champion for Coventry he helped with the Play builder project that built and refurbished over 15 Play areas in the City. "It was a great pleasure to promote play within Coventry. All children have the right to play" I think it was Lloyd George that said " A Childs first claim on society is the right to play".
Play helps with children's physical and emotional health; I always like to ask people can you remember how much you enjoyed play!
Marcus has been a member of the Conservative party for a number of years and was elected to Westwood ward in 2008 |
