Councillor Gazey was first elected in 1987 and has served in a number of roles across the Council. He was a Lord Mayor in 2004/05, Deputy Lord Mayor in 2003/04, a school Governor, a Freeman of City of Coventry and a Freeman of City of London Guild.

Councillor Gazey has also been involved with the following roles/organisations:-

Member of the Scrutiny Board (4) Health and Social Care Committee
Vice Chair of the West Midlands Fire Authority
Chair of the Coventry Voluntary Services Council
Member of the Court of Coventry Freemans Guild
