In May 2002 Kevin was elected as a Councillor for Cheylesmore on Coventry City Council. He was re-elected in the City Council Elections in June 2004 and May 2007. In 2003-04 Kevin was the Chair of Scrutiny Board 3, the Scrutiny Board responsible for overseeing the Councils work on issues such as transport, economic regeneration & the environment.
Kevin gave up his career as a Paralegal when he became Cabinet Member in 2004 so he could concentrate full-time on his Council responsibilities. Kevin was Cabinet Member (City Services) from 2004 - 2007. His brief included many of the services such as refuse, street cleansing, highways maintenance and trading standards.
In May 2007 as part of a Cabinet reshuffle Kevin moved to become Cabinet Member (City Development). This brief gave him responsibility for economic regeneration, transport and the Councils property portfolio.
From May 2008 to May 2010 Kevin was the Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and took over responsibility for the Council's Finances. In this role he regularly appeared in both the local press and on the local radio to both promote what the Council is doing and to respond to the concerns expressed by the public.
He is currently Shadow Cabinet Member (Strategic Finance and Resources).
In addition to his Council duties Kevin is a Coventry City Fan and a Member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
